Who would have believed that ?! Spanish researchers have developed a new type of sausage ; better sausage for health thanks to infants stools. Unsavoury… But why are they got there, you might say. It is simple, they were inspired by yogurts. Yogurts contain probiotic bacteria that may have a wide variety of benefits for our health, that is why they had the idea to integrate it into sausages.

Another question comes to mind : why go get them from the baby feces ? Their droppings are rich in Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, bacteria known for their probiotic effects. And if they are found in human feces, it means they are able to resist to the various stress in our body.

Researchers isolated three bacterial strains from the layers of toddlers aged 6 months, and they have integrated them into sausages.

Among these three strains, only one has developed, up to 100 million bacteria per gram of sausage, to produce beneficial effects for health.

Less salty and less fat, these sausages were tasted by the researchers themselves but also by a panel of professionals who detected no difference in flavor with the traditional sausage.

We have only one thing to wish you : bon appetit !
