The Eukaryotes, to which we belong, are never alone: “they have acquired their main energetic metabolisms of bacteria which they have packaged into their cells and which have become hereditary”. This quote from the excellent book “Jamais seul” written by Marc-André Selosse, reflects quite well the author’s idea: organisms resulting from the evolution of living world have always dealt with bacteria.

The author therefore offers us a vision of the original life and sometimes confusing due to the systematic presence of microorganisms in biological processes.

A book that teaches us perfectly the symbiosis notion, described through many examples in the unicellular, plant and animal (including insects, mammals etc.) world.

In a little more than 300 pages, Marc-André Selosse who is totally comfortable on the subject, gives meaning to the notion of ecology.

Reading this book is enjoyable because of the real author’s talent for writing and popularization, even if some preliminary biology and microbiology notions are required.
